Crest Gates  |  Electrically Operated Crest Gates

The Palmer Dam in Stonington, Connecticut, impounds 88 million gallons of drinking water, and serves as one of two supply sources for a population of over 10,000. The complex dam repair required special consideration to mitigate and balance the risk of flood and drought, and had to remain fully operational during reconstruction.

Steel-Fab manufactured two 25' x 6' adjustable crest gates, which operate in five pre-programmed positions, which serve to maintain proper reservoir level without requiring pre-event draw down.

The Palmer Dam Rehabilitation Project won the prestigious American Council of Engineering Companies of Connecticut's 2009 Grand Award for Engineering Excellence.
