Crest Gates | Electrically Operated Crest Gates
Georgia Power owns and operates a hydropower facility within
the Ocmulgee River Basin at the Lloyd Shoals Dam, below Lake Jackson. One of the oldest man-made lakes in Georgia, the 4750-acre Jackson Lake was created in 1910 when the Lloyd Shoals Dam was built. The dam is 100 feet high and 1070 feet long.
Steel-Fab designed and manufactured an electrically operated crest gate at the Lloyd Shoals Dam, to ensure the required minimum discharge flow from the dam, which is 400 cu.ft. per second, or 258 million gallons per day.
